"Learning with Kuni has been a true pleasure for me.
I came to him as a complete beginner and have seen my Japanese skills constantly improve under his tutelage. He brings thought and care to every lesson and adapts to my learning strengths and weaknesses. He has helped me grow as a Japanese speaker, a learner, and a person, and has helped inspire me to pursue Japanese in college."

"If you really want to learn Japanese, I highly recommend studying with Kuni Sensei.
In our classes, we work on all aspects of the language: speaking, writing, listening and reading. Pronunciation and listening skills are key in communication and Kuni’s help is invaluable especially since the rhythm of Japanese is so different and there are so many expressions that don’t have a direct translation to English. We are now working on the JLPT N4 exam – a daunting task that is made so much easier with Kuni’s encouragement and study plan."

“Kuni is an incredible sensei. My husband and I were Japanese language students of his for nearly 2 years and learned so much. It may sound cliche but Kuni really does have deep investment in the success of your language learning. He is not just a textbook teacher either, where the book lacks explanation, he has supplemental teachings or if it isn't working for your learning style, he'll create a lesson that works with your learning style. He encourages and works his lessons to immediately distance yourself from roman characters and jump right into learning to read, write and speak in Japanese. I would highly recommend Kuni to anyone wishing to learn Japanese.”

“Kuni is an fine teacher. I had previously learned a little Japanese, but that was 10 years
earlier and I had not progressed very far. I took lessons from Kuni twice a week for five
months, after which I traveled to Japan for three weeks. I was delighted to find that I had
learned enough from our lessons that I was able, not only to do basic things like order
from restaurants and such, but hold conversations in Japanese and get to know some of
the people I met. Kuni is organized but flexible. He corrects mistakes without making
you feel foolish. Most of all, he is a good motivator, because learning a foreign language
is hard and it is easy to get discouraged. I hope to continue my lessons with him soon and
become more proficient.”
